Job Title: Account Manager
Location: Holborn Viaduct, Newly won contract, Brand new building
Role Overview
The Account Manager is responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of services in line with contractual terms and conditions, meeting and exceeding client expectations while achieving BGIS commercial and operational objectives. The role is accountable for maintaining the availability and performance of critical building systems, ensuring minimal risk to the client’s business. All maintenance activities must comply with client requirements, BGIS policies, and health and safety legislation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure consistently high levels of client satisfaction and develop contracts to expand scope and portfolio responsibility
- Act as the primary point of contact for day-to-day enquiries from BGIS teams, subcontractors, and clients
- Maintain full operational and financial ownership of contracts, ensuring P&L targets are met or exceeded
- Lead and participate in internal monthly contract reviews with senior management
- Ensure subcontractor compliance, documentation accuracy, and performance management
- Deliver all contractually agreed KPIs and SLAs
- Produce accurate and timely monthly performance, financial, and variance reports
- Attend and lead regular client-facing operational and strategic review meetings
- Plan and coordinate subcontractor visits, including non-critical and specialist works
- Manage supplier and subcontractor engagement, including pricing, procurement, and delivery
- Ensure all plant and equipment is maintained to the highest standard
- Oversee the completion, compliance, and close-out of all reactive and planned maintenance works
- Ensure full adherence to all health, safety, and statutory compliance requirements
- Identify, quote, and deliver additional and variation works in line with commercial expectations
- Ensure BGIS systems and processes are correctly implemented and utilised on site
- Line management responsibility for Contract Managers, including performance management and development
- Lead recruitment, succession planning, appraisals, welfare, and disciplinary processes as required
- Develop and deliver training plans for management and engineering teams
- Provide leadership, coaching, and operational support to Contract Managers and engineering teams
- Maintain appropriate staffing levels across contracts, balancing cost efficiency with service excellence
- Act as a 24/7 escalation point for the client, ensuring effective incident management and communication
- Keep the Service Director fully informed of operational, commercial, and client-related matters
- Promote and demonstrate BGIS values at all times
Education and Qualifications
- HNC, BTEC or Degree-level qualification preferred
- Strong written and spoken English with good numeracy skills
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Recognised technical qualification
- Proven contract and account management experience
- Strong leadership and people management capability
- High level of customer focus and stakeholder engagement skills
- Able to communicate effectively at all levels, including boardroom presentations
- Strong understanding of health and safety legislation and best practice
- Mechanical and/or Electrical engineering background, ideally via an apprenticeship
- Experience working with planned preventative maintenance regimes
- Sound technical knowledge including electrical installations, fault finding, HVAC, BMS, and high-voltage systems
- Knowledge of COSHH, risk assessments, and water treatment (desirable)
- C&G 17th/18th Edition, HV authorisation (desirable)
